Allied Products was established in Baltimore in 1940 by brothers Manny and Maurice Sokolsky. Its original business was
as a drapery distributor, but that business changed after World War II, and that company switched its focus to carpet supply
distribution.
In 1974, the company was purchased by Henry Goldsmith. Maurice Sokolsky continued with the company,
as a Sales Manager, until 1983. Ken Wells, the current Vice-President, was hired right out of college in early 1977. In October,
1989, Henry Goldsmith sold his interest in the company and Ken Wells became a stockholder.
In 1988, Allied opened
its first satellite location in Forestville, MD, and has since expanded to a total of twelve locations in the Mid-Atlantic
region.
